Without language, one cannot talk to people and understand them; one cannot share their hopes and aspirations, grasp their history, appreciate their poetry, or savor their songs. - Nelson Mandela
Since I can remember, I've loved going to school, I have loved being challenged, reading and writing and talking about the things I've learned. I still love picking out my first day of school outfit and packing my lunch the night before. I get to go to school for a living and I couldn't be happier.
I was born and raised in Mexico until I was 12 years old when my family immigrated to the United States. I learned English through middle school and graduated high school from a small town in central New Mexico. I then attended UNM where I graduated with a Secondary Education Bachelor of Arts Degree, summa cum laude, with a Modern and Classical Languages (Spanish) concentration and a Minor in Honors Interdisciplinary Studies. I also graduated with my Master's Degree in Education in May of 2018 through the University of New Mexico. Go Lobos! This is my 9th year teaching and my fourth as a Volcano Vista Hawk. I am excited for the year ahead!
I believe that education provides us the tools to create change in our own lives, the lives of our families, communities, nation and world. Education gives us the belief, hope and determination that the future can be bigger than the past. In the best case scenario, it will provide us with inspiration that will define what makes us passionate in our lives. It is my personal mission to contribute to my own education and that of my students through the work that I do.
